Lower Hudson Pond

A Secluded Wilderness Escape

Lower Hudson Pond

Location: T10 R10

·        Tucked away on a remote 100-acre hourglass-shaped pond, Lower Hudson Pond offers a true off-the-grid experience. Surrounded by towering mountains and rocky shorelines, this pristine pond is most easily accessed by seaplane or a short 1/4-mile trail. The gravel road access to the trail head takes about 1 ½ hours from nearest town. The hike down to the pond is about 10 minutes. The pond is a favorite of seaplane enthusiasts.

The cabin is an ideal retreat for those seeking solitude and excellent fishing for landlocked salmon and brook trout. There are no other cabins on the pond. A challenging 1-mile hiking trail leads to nearby Upper Hudson Pond, a fly-fishing-only trophy brook trout destination, where a canoe is stashed for your use.

At Lower Hudson Pond, you’ll have access to a variety of boats, including 2 – 14-foot Deep V boats, a 14-foot pram, a 17-foot canoe, a two-man kayak, and a 17-foot square stern canoe. The two connected log cabins offer plenty of space with 3 twin beds& 1 full in the kitchen cabin and 5 twins and 1 full bed in the sleeping cabin. A nearby spring provides fresh drinking water, and the pond is great for swimming and paddling. Hiking the mountains around the pond adds a great dimension for climbers. An outboard motor for the boats can be rented if booked in advance.
