Aroostook River Camp
Junction Pool: Where History Meets Nature
Aroostook River Camp
Location: T8 R8
· Log cabin built by Allie Libby in 1940 at the confluence of the Millinocket and Munsungan Streams, a junction pool that marks the beginning of the famed Aroostook River. Once a historic halfway stop for canoe travelers heading to Libby Camps on Millinocket Lake, this site is one of the most picturesque spots along the Aroostook River, with its waters teeming with salmon and trout.
Located 15 miles from Oxbow, the cabin is accessible via gravel logging roads, with the final mile privately gated (not suitable for low-clearance vehicles). The log cabin features one double bed and four single beds, offering rustic comfort for your stay. A 17-foot canoe is also available for exploring the river.
Please note, river locations may experience higher levels of biting insects in June. A natural spring provides fresh drinking water. This site can also be the perfect stop during an Aroostook River canoe trip.
